G Flip built a reputation as one of Australia's most exciting artists off the back of a debut single filmed on an iPhone that Pitchfork called Best New Track. The Melbourne multi instrumentalist and producer, who started out as a session drummer, lets percussion drive everything, and that instinct has paid off: their second album Drummer topped the ARIA Albums Chart and won the 2023 J Award for Australian Album of the Year. Seven of its songs made it into that year's Triple J Hottest 100, a record for the most entries by a single artist in one countdown and enough to put G Flip in equal third place for most Hottest 100 entries of all time. Their third album Dream Ride arrived in 2025, preceded by singles including "Disco Cowgirl" and "Big Ol' Hammer". G Flip even taught themselves saxophone for the accompanying tour. The track "Bed on Fire" pulled in serious international attention after it featured in the Amazon Prime Video series Off Campus. Along the way they have racked up platinum singles like "Killing My Time" and "Drink Too Much", collaborated with Troye Sivan, and performed at multiple AFL Grand Finals.
