About
General Jabbah from Hilversum plays a groove driven blend of reggae, ska, soul and hip hop, and the result is the kind of music that moves a room without trying too hard. Their sound is warm and soulful but with a contemporary edge, shaped by the wide range of cultural backgrounds within the group, including Turkish, Kenyan, Indonesian and Surinamese Dutch influences. Over the years they have built a solid reputation as a live act, playing festivals and venues including Zwarte Cross, Melkweg, Tivoli, Vera and Victorie. They have also shared stages with acts such as The Slackers, Hollie Cook, The Upsessions and Sticky Fingers. Their album Jabbah Rock shows the band pushing their crossover sound further while keeping the dancefloor very much in mind.
