About
Gerard Bouwhuis is a Dutch pianist whose career has been shaped almost entirely by contemporary classical music. Based in the Netherlands, he studied at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague under Geoffrey Douglas Madge, and has since built a reputation as a go to interpreter for composers working at the challenging end of the spectrum. He is a member of the Xenakis Ensemble, and his playing has inspired composers including Louis Andriessen, Cornelis de Bondt and Martijn Padding to write works specifically for him. His work spans minimalism, contemporary classical and electroacoustic territory, making him one of the more versatile figures in the Dutch new music scene.
