Gibran Alcocer is a Mexican pianist, composer and producer from Yucatán who writes, plays and produces his own pieces entirely by himself, aside from the occasional cover or collaboration. His piano piece Idea 10, released in July 2022 on the British independent label Kurate Music, became his breakthrough moment, racking up over 250 million streams on Spotify and sixteen million views on YouTube. That kind of reach for a solo piano composition is genuinely rare, and it put him on the map fast. In 2023 he stepped into bigger territory, contributing to the Grammy nominated album Data by Puerto Rican producer Tainy, co writing on the tracks Desde las 10 and Sacrificio. It was a notable shift from intimate solo piano work to a massive collaborative Latin project featuring the likes of Bad Bunny, Daddy Yankee and Skrillex, showing a versatility well beyond what his age might suggest.
