About
Also known as: Giorgia Todrani, 喬姬雅
Few Italian singers carry the kind of vocal reputation Giorgia does. Nicknamed the Italian Whitney Houston, she built her name on a wide range, a powerful belting register, and an instinct for soul and jazz that goes back to her early days performing in Roman jazz clubs. Her influences read like a dream list: Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Stevie Wonder, Ella Fitzgerald, Michael Jackson. That foundation shows in everything she does. With twelve studio albums, over 25 million records sold worldwide, and five appearances at the Sanremo Music Festival, Giorgia is one of the best selling female Italian artists of her generation. Her 1995 Sanremo win was historic: she swept all four prizes in a single night, a record that still stands. Her second album Come Thelma & Louise moved over 8 million copies globally, and collaborations with Luciano Pavarotti, Andrea Bocelli, Herbie Hancock, and Ray Charles give you a sense of the company she keeps.
