Glaive, the project of Ash Gutierrez from Hendersonville, North Carolina, went from posting hyperpop tracks in his bedroom during the pandemic to signing with Interscope Records before most people his age had finished high school. His sound sits at the crossroads of hyperpop, emo pop, and digicore, all raw emotion and digitally warped edges, and his debut EP Cypress Grove landed in late 2020 after he wrote and recorded the whole thing in a week. He built momentum fast, collaborating with artists like Ericdoa and Renforshort, and even opened for The Kid Laroi on a European tour. His debut album, I Care So Much That I Don't Care at All, arrived in 2023 with a lead single that samples Timothée Chalamet performing a 2016 stage play, which tells you something about the way Glaive thinks. He kept the pace up through 2024 with the EP A Bit of a Mad One, recorded in Hope, Alaska, and his second album May It Never Falter followed later that year.
