Glen Faria (NL)

About

Also known as: Glen Walter Faria

Glen Faria is an Amsterdam singer and pianist who blends soul with Dutch language pop, the kind of music that sits somewhere between nederpop and a more personal, storytelling approach. He's as much a storyteller as a songwriter, and he likes to pair his songs with spoken scenes and stories rather than just playing them back to back. His theatre concert MAN is a good example of that. Directed by Priscilla Vaudelle and performed together with ZO! Gospel Choir, it has Glen sitting at the piano and arguing with the different versions of himself: the artist, the partner, the friend, the father and the son. It's a raw, honest look at constantly having to adapt to what everyone expects of you, and what's left of you when all those roles drop away.
