GNOD

About

Gnod are less a band than a rotating collective, which is exactly how they like it. Formed in Salford in 2006, they mix drone, noise, krautrock and psychedelic rock into something heavy, hypnotic and hard to pin down. The core since 2012 is Paddy Shine, Chris Haslam, Marlene Ribeiro, Alex Macarte and Andy Blundell, with drummers and vocalists drifting in and out around them. One reviewer of their 2011 release Ingnodwetrust called them a collective with an ever rotating list of members, and that still fits. They release music on Rocket Recordings and run their own label, Tesla Tapes, named after Nikola Tesla and set up as an outlet for Gnodheads and friends all over the world. They have curated a sound installation at Islington Mill where visitors explored a dark room armed only with a torch, and NME once told readers to see them live right away. Their catalogue runs from Just Say No To The Psycho Right Wing Capitalist Fascist Industrial Death Machine to Hexen Valley and Spot Land, plus a collaboration with White Hills.
