Groove Armada (GB)

About

Also known as: Groove Amada, Groove Amanda, Groove Amarda, Groove Aramada, Groove Armad, Groove Armanda, Groove Armarda, _Groove Armada_

Groove Armada, the London duo of Andy Cato and Tom Findlay, built their reputation on a restless refusal to stay in one lane. Their early track "At the River", built around a sample of Patti Page's "Old Cape Cod", became a staple of chill out compilations, but by 2001 they had pivoted hard toward the dancefloor with the Grammy nominated "Superstylin'". They have nine studio albums to their name, six of which cracked the UK Albums Chart top 50. The range across those records is genuinely striking. "Remember" reconstructed Sandy Denny's vocals from Fairport Convention recordings, "Song 4 Mutya (Out of Control)" with ex Sugababes singer Mutya Buena was called one of the best songs of 2007, and their 2020 album Edge of the Horizon brought in a wide cast of vocalists including Todd Edwards and Paris Brightledge. Their track "Hands of Time" from 2002 also found a second life when it appeared in the film Collateral. In 2025 they teamed up with PinkPantheress on a remix of her song "Stateside".
