With over 13 million records sold and eleven singles in the German Top 50, Groove Coverage carved out a serious place in the eurodance and euro trance scene. The German group, built around lead singer Mell alongside DJ Novus and producer Axel Konrad, broke through in 2002 with a cover of Mike Oldfield's 'Moonlight Shadow' and followed it up with 'God Is a Girl', which later became the most downloaded song in China in 2007. Their taste for reworking classics extended to Alice Cooper's 'Poison', a track that went top 40 in the UK and helped open doors in Spain and Asia. After a quieter stretch they returned with a Sony Music deal and the album 'Riot on the Dancefloor' in 2012, then kept releasing singles well into the 2010s. Their 20th anniversary in 2021 brought fresh material including 'Higher Energy' and a new version of 'Moonlight Shadow' done alongside W&W, showing the group still has plenty of appetite for the dancefloor.
