About
Gruff Rhys has a habit of turning albums into whole projects. American Interior came with a film, a hardback book and a mobile app, and it followed Hotel Shampoo, which won him the 2011 Welsh Music Prize. He is best known as the frontman of Super Furry Animals, the band behind Fuzzy Logic, Radiator, Guerrilla and Mwng, who also toured festivals with a 40 foot inflatable bear and a blue tank blasting techno. Before that came Ffa Coffi Pawb, a leading band on the Welsh scene during the Cool Cymru years. Alongside his solo work he formed the electro pop outfit Neon Neon with Boom Bip, whose album Stainless Style earned a Mercury Prize nomination. He even plays guitar upside down, a right handed guitar played left handed. His latest album, Dim Probs, arrived in 2025.
