His Red House Records debut, Stomp Down Rider, landed on top album lists across the country, and each release after that deepened his reputation. You Don't Know My Mind earned him Blues Album of the Year from the Association for Independent Music, while Legacy was picked as one of the best CDs of the year by NPR. Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull liked his fifth album so much he personally invited Davis to open for the band. Fans include Jackson Browne, Maya Angelou, and Jessica Lange.
