About
H' is Hervé, a French singer who grew up near Lyon and has lived in the Netherlands since 2019. Being far from his own language is exactly what pulled him back to French chanson, and he first played it in the cosy setting of house concerts. He doesn't try to sound like Brel, Barbara or Aznavour. The songs are in French and carry his own voice, shaped by his own life, and the feeling comes across even if you don't catch every word. In the duo format he plays alongside guitarist Richard Marsden, who comes from Saddleworth in the north of England and has lived in the Netherlands since 1976. Marsden has played guitar since he was ten, moving from teenage rock bands to folk groups, with Ralph McTell, Richard Thompson and Declan Sinnott as his reference points. His playing leaves room for the voice and for silence, putting the story first.
