About

Also known as: Sybille Cook

Hanneke Kappen made her mark as the singer of Groningen rock act White Honey in the late 1970s, right when the city's music scene was buzzing hard enough to launch acts like Herman Brood onto the national stage. White Honey scored a minor hit with "Nothing Going On In The City" before splitting in 1980, leaving behind one album. Kappen then took a sharp turn into broadcasting, hosting Stampij on KRO radio from 1981 to 1982, one of only two Dutch radio shows at the time dedicated to heavy metal and hard rock. She went on to front several TV programs for VARA, co hosted the Dutch broadcast of Live Aid in 1985 with Boudewijn Büch, and later picked up the Sunday morning radio show Dag Zondag. Through it all she kept making music, recording with Gerry Arling, forming the duo Kappen & Klat with Boelo Klat, and later teaming up with guitarist Winfred Buma.
