About
Hayko Cepkin is a Turkish musician of Armenian descent whose Anatolian rock sound sits somewhere between heavy riffs and deeply rooted Turkish musical tradition. His debut album Sakin Olmam Lazım, recorded entirely in his home studio, came out in 2005 and even had a track land on a film soundtrack. Since then he has released a string of albums, including Sandık, Aşkın Izdırabını... and the 2020 pandemic record Karantina Günlüğü, made together with Burak Malçok. Cepkin is not just a recording artist. He has composed film soundtracks, played keyboards on collaborators' records, and shared stages with names like Anneke van Giersbergen at major festival appearances. He has also taken on acting roles in film and television and stepped into musical theatre, playing both Henry Jekyll and Edward Hyde in a production of Jekyll and Hyde, then taking on Van Helsing in Dracula. There is clearly a lot going on with this guy beyond the guitar.
