About
Formed in Nashville in 2000, Hayseed Dixie built their whole identity on a simple but inspired idea: take hard rock classics and rework them as bluegrass bangers. They call the style "rockgrass", and the name itself is a nod to AC/DC, whose songs filled their debut record A Hillbilly Tribute to AC/DC. That first album sold over 250,000 copies in the US and got serious radio play, which is no small thing for a band playing fiddles and banjos through Motörhead and Queen songs. They have since put out 16 studio albums, played more than 1,400 shows across 31 countries, and built a particularly devoted following in Western Europe. They opened the main stage at Glastonbury in 2005, played Download and Roskilde in 2007, and pulled off three back to back nights at Wacken in 2011 with completely different setlists each time. Not content to stick to English, they have recorded in Norwegian, Finnish, German and Spanish too. Their 2015 album Hair Down to My Grass hit number one on the UK Country Chart, and they kept the original material coming with Shattered Grass in 2021.
