He Is Legend are a hard rock and metal outfit from Wilmington, North Carolina, whose name lifts directly from Richard Matheson's 1954 novel I Am Legend. Formed in 2003, they hit the ground hard with their debut full length I Am Hollywood, then spent nearly two years touring the US and Europe on its back. Their follow up, Suck Out the Poison, almost didn't exist at all since the band came close to splitting up right after wrapping the recording sessions. They've mixed post hardcore aggression with southern rock grit across a catalog that includes It Hates You and Heavy Fruit, the latter produced by former bandmate Mitch Marlow. Frontman Schuylar Croom is the constant thread through lineup changes, hiatuses and reunions, keeping the band's sound raw and distinctly their own. A stint playing SXSW as a four piece showed they weren't above stripping things back when circumstances demanded it.
