About
Headpins started as a side project for two members of Chilliwack, and it turned into a proper Vancouver hard rock success story. Their 1982 debut Turn It Loud went platinum and sat at the top of the charts for six weeks, powered by the hit single "Don't It Make Ya Feel". The follow up, Line of Fire, did multi platinum numbers too, and "Just One More Time" spent nine weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at number 70 in early 1984. That run got them a European tour with Whitesnake. The band had a revolving door of lead vocalists, with Denise McCann, Darby Mills and Chrissy Steele among them. They also had a famous run in with ZZ Top on the Afterburner Tour, where they were pulled from the bill after playing an encore they'd been told to skip. Headpins still play live with Ab Bryant and Bernie Aubin from the classic 1980s lineup.
