About
Also known as: Isimeme Naomi Udu
Hemlocke Springs, the project of singer and producer Isimeme Naomi Udu, built her fanbase almost entirely from the ground up through TikTok and SoundCloud before anyone in the industry was paying attention. Her second self produced song "Girlfriend" went viral and crossed a million streams on Spotify, with Pitchfork calling it "an ideal rom com song" that channels the bratty energy of Marina's Family Jewels era alongside a Kate Bush style falsetto. That kind of comparison is not thrown around lightly. Her sound sits squarely in synth pop and indie pop territory, pulling heavily from 1980s aesthetics, and Pitchfork described her debut EP Going...Going...Gone! as "kitschy and yearning", each track feeling like a different scene from an 80s romantic comedy. She opened for Doja Cat's Scarlet Tour, Muna, Ashnikko, and Chappell Roan before releasing her debut album The Apple Tree Under the Sea in early 2026. Her single "The Beginning of the End" showed a noticeably more sober side, a shift from the bubblegum pop she made her name on.
