About
Hidden Xmas Deluxe is the Christmas side project of the Dutch Americana band Hidden Agenda Deluxe, and the idea for it supposedly hatched on a sweltering Italian mountaintop while BJ Baartmans and Eric Devries were out on tour. It has since become a regular fixture on Dutch stages. The formula is simple: a top Dutch Americana band teams up with an international guest singer, in this case Candace Lacina, known from The Hello Darlins and affectionately cast as the resident Christmas lady. The repertoire mixes seasonal songs with the band's own roots material, all played with a warm, wintery groove. There's a streak of melancholy running through it, balanced by solid musicianship, and on stage the whole crew feels more like a close family than a pickup group. Expect cosy, nostalgic Christmas music that still has some surprises up its sleeve.
