About
Hinder built their name the hard way, playing Oklahoma City clubs until a major label came calling. Their 2005 debut Extreme Behavior went triple platinum in the US, driven by the ubiquitous power ballad "Lips of an Angel", which spent 41 weeks on the New Zealand charts and hit number one. That record alone cemented them as one of the bigger hard rock acts to come out of Oklahoma. After four albums with original vocalist Austin Winkler, including Take It to the Limit and Welcome to the Freakshow, the band kept going after his 2013 departure by bringing in Marshal Dutton on vocals. They released When the Smoke Clears and The Reign with the new lineup, and after a seven year gap returned with Back to Life in 2025 on Evil Teen Records. The band was inducted into the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame back in 2007, which says something about how deeply they are tied to their home state.
