About
Honningbarna, which translates loosely as "The Honey Children", are a punk rock band from Kristiansand, Norway, who deliver their raw, high energy sound entirely in the local Kristiansand dialect. That regional specificity gives their music a distinct character that sets them apart from most of the international punk scene. Their debut album La Alarmane Gå landed them a Spellemannprisen win in the rock category in 2011, a pretty remarkable achievement for a band just finding their feet. The winning track Borgerskapets utakknemlige sønner, meaning "Ungrateful sons of the bourgeoisie", gave a clear signal of the band's sharp political edge. Over the years they have built up a solid discography, including albums like Voldelig Lyd and Animorphs, and their output has not slowed down. Their 2025 album Soft Spot and the recent single Rød bic show a band still very much in motion, with vocalist Edvard Valberg also bringing cello into the mix, adding an unexpected texture to what is otherwise full throttle punk rock.
