About
Also known as: Hubert KaH, Hubert Kemmler
Hubert Kah built their reputation on the glittery, dramatic sound of the Neue Deutsche Welle movement, scoring hits in the early 1980s with tracks like "Rosemarie", "Sternenhimmel" and "Einmal Nur Mit Erika". Frontman Hubert Kemmler made the group hard to ignore, showing up on TV in a nightdress or a straitjacket. The trio later teamed up with producer Michael Cretu, which led to English language albums and a hand in writing some of Sandra's biggest moments, including "Maria Magdalena" and "Heaven Can Wait", with Kemmler also lending backing vocals to her hit singles through much of the late 1980s. After battling depression and stepping away from music entirely, Kemmler made a comeback in 1996, then again in 2005 with the album Seelentaucher, a mix of German and English tracks. The band has kept releasing music in more recent years, with the RockArt album in 2016 and a string of singles including a collaboration with Joachim Witt. Kemmler also returned to the studio with Sandra for her 2012 album Stay in Touch.
