About
Hyades play old school thrash metal with a grin on their face. Their sound mixes European and US thrash, with fast drumming, mosh ready riffs and socially critical lyrics that never lose their sense of humor. They were doing it a few years before the thrash revival really kicked in, and after eight years in the underground with self produced demos, they signed to Belgian label Mausoleum Records and put out their debut album, Abuse Your Illusions, in 2004. That record led to a European tour with Omen, and the band kept busy afterwards, sharing stages with Onslaught, Sinister, Helstar and Tankard. Their second album, And the Worst Is Yet to Come, got cover art from Ed Repka, the man behind Megadeth's Vic Rattlehead. Tankard liked them enough to invite them onto their tribute album, where Hyades tackled the song Alien. Metal Hammer UK even listed them among 30 representative thrash bands still going in 2008. The Roots of Trash followed in 2009, and The Wolves Are Getting Hungry arrived in 2015.
