Ian Moss is the guitarist whose playing has been a cornerstone of Cold Chisel since the band formed in Adelaide in 1973, and his voice is all over some of their most loved tracks, including "Bow River", a song he wrote about a cattle station in the Kimberley that has since become his signature tune. "When the War Is Over", "My Baby" and "Saturday Night" all carry his vocals too, and when Cold Chisel were inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 1993, Moss was very much part of the story. His solo debut Matchbook, released in 1989, was a genuine smash: it hit number one on the ARIA Albums Chart and swept five categories at the ARIA Music Awards of 1990, including Album of the Year and Best Male Artist. The singles "Tucker's Daughter", co written with Cold Chisel's Don Walker, and "Telephone Booth" both cracked the top ten. He has kept releasing music since, with solo albums including Worlds Away, Let's All Get Together and Soul on West 53rd, while also returning to Cold Chisel for reunion recordings and tours across the years.
