About
Ian Noe writes the kind of songs that feel like they've been sitting at the bottom of a whiskey glass for a long time, death, addiction, lost love, and poverty are the recurring themes. The Beattyville, Kentucky singer songwriter broke through with his debut album Between the Country, produced by Dave Cobb, and quickly caught enough attention to land a support slot for John Prine on tour across Germany, Sweden and Norway in 2019. That same year he was the cover image for Spotify's Fresh Folk playlist, no small thing for an artist rooted in Americana and outlaw country. Noe has also toured alongside Son Volt, Jamestown Revival, and Blackberry Smoke, which tells you plenty about the company he keeps. He even turned up in a Jason Momoa video performing his own material. His 2022 track River Fool suggests he's kept the pen moving, staying true to that raw, spare sound that made Between the Country worth paying attention to in the first place.
