Icon for Hire is a rock duo out of Decatur, Illinois, built around vocalist Ariel Bloomer and guitarist Shawn Jump. Their debut album Scripted hit No. 7 on the Billboard Hard Rock Albums chart in 2011 and broke the first week sales record for a Tooth and Nail debut, which is no small thing for a band that had been grinding Midwest tours and self releasing EPs just a couple of years earlier. The single "Make a Move" cracked the Christian Rock chart and got its video premiered by Guitar World. After parting ways with Tooth and Nail in 2015 over creative and ideological differences, they went fully independent and haven't looked back. A Kickstarter for their third album You Can't Kill Us raised over $127,000, blowing past their goal and proving their fanbase was genuinely invested. Since then they've put out Amorphous in 2021 and The Reckoning in 2022, both on their own terms. Their sound blends alternative rock, pop punk and electronic elements into something with a real edge to it.
