Signed to Noisia's Invisible Recordings at just 16 under the alias Signal, Rotterdam's IMANU had already earned serious credibility in drum and bass before he even reinvented himself. In 2019 he launched the Imanu project and pushed the genre into new territory, pulling in house, techno and footwork and describing the result as "future breaks". His primary influences include Flume, Sophie, Cashmere Cat and Arca, and that list tells you a lot about where his head is at. His debut album Unfold dropped in 2022 on Zeds Dead's Deadbeats label, followed by a remix compilation featuring the likes of Zeds Dead and Machinedrum. Along the way he has collaborated with Noisia, What So Not and Kučka, landed releases on UKF and Vision Recordings, and performed a live mix on BBC Radio 1. Beatport picked him as one of their six NEXT artists in 2021, backing him for a full year across editorial and live platforms.
