IOS, the Groningen band that got their start under the name IsOokSchitterend, hit the ground running in 1997 when their debut single Voltooid Verleden Tijd spent thirty weeks in the Dutch Top 40. It came from their debut album Hemel & Aarde, and signalled the beginning of roughly fifteen years at the top of Nederpop. A second creative peak arrived mid 2000s with a heavier, more alternative edge, producing fan favourites like Hoe het Voelt, Altijd wel Iemand and Uit de Schaduw. The band said their goodbyes in 2010 with ten nights at Rotterdam's Ahoy during Vrienden van Amstel Live, then went quiet for over a decade. A reunion concert at a sold out Tivoli brought them back, and things snowballed from there: six new singles, a club tour, a theatre tour and the best of collection nieuw licht/oude bekenden. Now they are working on their eighth studio album, keeping that signature Nederpop sound intact while pushing into new territory.
