About
The founding drummer of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Jack Irons has one of the more eventful careers in rock history. He helped spark the Chili Peppers into existence back in 1983, played on their third album The Uplift Mofo Party Plan, and later passed a demo tape to an unknown San Diego musician named Eddie Vedder, essentially setting Pearl Jam in motion. He went on to drum for Pearl Jam himself from late 1994, appearing on Vitalogy and touring with the band through their mid period run, including the Mirror Ball sessions with Neil Young. Beyond those two juggernauts, Irons spent years with the band Eleven alongside Alain Johannes and Natasha Shneider, and has also played with The Wallflowers, Mark Lanegan Band, and Joe Strummer, among others. He put out two solo records, Attention Dimension in 2004 and No Heads Are Better Than One in 2006, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a founding member of Red Hot Chili Peppers in 2012.
