Jack White

About

Also known as: Jack White III, John Anthony White, ジャック・ホワイト

Jack White built his reputation as the guitarist and vocalist of the White Stripes, the Detroit duo that helped kick off the garage rock revival of the early 2000s. Their 2001 album White Blood Cells broke them internationally, and the run of records that followed cemented White as one of the defining rock figures of that decade. He co founded Third Man Records in 2001, which became both a label and a studio, and kept busy mid decade with two more groups, the Raconteurs and the Dead Weather. He also recorded the Bond theme "Another Way to Die" with Alicia Keys, notable as the only duet ever to perform a Bond theme. After the White Stripes dissolved in 2011, his solo career hit the ground running. His 2014 album Lazaretto broke the record for first week vinyl sales since 1991, a record that stood for seven years. His more recent output has leaned experimental, and his 2024 album No Name got attention in part for its unconventional release approach. Rolling Stone placed him on their greatest guitarists lists in both 2010 and 2023, and in 2025 he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the White Stripes.
