Jadu Heart, the English duo of Diva Jeffrey and Alex Headford, built their early identity around an elaborate fictional universe, complete with alter egos (Jeffrey as Dina, Headford as Faro) and theatrical masks worn at live shows and during press runs for their first two records. Their 2016 EPs Wanderflower and Ezras Garden were essentially chapters in a conceptual story, later compiled onto a vinyl with a poster depicting the alternate world they had created. When they relocated to Bristol and set up a studio in a church basement, something shifted. Their 2020 album Hyper Romance drew on gothic architecture, folk horror films and a growing fascination with Pagan rituals, pushing their sound toward grunge, shoegaze and psychedelic folk. They also ditched the masks entirely, with opening track Another Life arriving just a week after they posted their first unmasked photos online. Since then they have kept moving, releasing Derealised in 2023 and POST HEAVEN in 2025.
