Jane Monheit has built her reputation as one of the most compelling jazz vocalists of her generation by diving deep into the Great American Songbook, drawing clear comparisons to her idol Ella Fitzgerald. She released her debut album Never Never Land in 2000 at just 22 years old, and after recording across five different labels, she eventually launched her own imprint, Emerald City Records. The first release on that label was The Songbook Sessions in 2016, a direct tribute to Fitzgerald. Her voice has also found its way onto film. She sang the titular song in the 2010 movie Never Let Me Go, a track written by Luther Dixon and credited on screen to the fictional Judy Bridgewater. Away from the Songbook, she has worked alongside names like Toots Thielemans and Sergio Mendes, and recorded a duet with Michael Bublé. Two of her albums have earned Grammy nominations.
