Jason Derulo has racked up over 250 million singles sold worldwide since launching his solo career in 2009, and he did it with a run of hooks that kept landing across multiple eras of pop and r&b. His debut single "Whatcha Say" went quintuple platinum in the US and hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100, built around a flip of Imogen Heap's "Hide and Seek". He kept the momentum going through the early 2010s with UK chart toppers like "In My Head" and "Don't Wanna Go Home", then shifted into a grittier, more groove driven lane with "Talk Dirty" featuring 2 Chainz and "Wiggle" with Snoop Dogg. The 2020 collab with New Zealand producer Jawsh 685, "Savage Love (Laxed, Siren Beat)", gave him his second US number one, boosted further by a remix with BTS. After parting ways with Warner Music Group over creative differences, he signed with Atlantic Records and released his fifth studio album Nu King in 2024, pulling together fan favourites like "Swalla" and "Take You Dancing" alongside newer material.
