About
Jason Ringenberg is the driving force behind Jason & the Scorchers, the Nashville band that Rolling Stone credited with having 'singlehandedly re wrote the history of rock'n'roll in the South.' Blending punk rock energy with country grit, the Scorchers were a major catalyst for what would become the alternative country and Americana genres, and in 2008 they picked up the Americana Music Association's Lifetime Achievement Award. As a solo artist, The Times of London called him 'one of the most exciting performers of his generation,' and his 2019 album Stand Tall, written during an Artist in Residence stint at Sequoia National Park, roams across subjects from John the Baptist to The Ramones. There is also a whole other side to Ringenberg: Farmer Jason, a children's music character he created in 2002 that has arguably become his biggest project of all. Four records and a DVD later, the PBS mini program 'It's a Farmer Jason' has earned four Emmy nominations and one win. On any given day, Ringenberg might perform both personas back to back.
