About
Jen Cloher's 2017 self titled album is probably her best known work, debuting at number 5 on the ARIA Charts and pulling five star reviews from the likes of The Guardian and The Independent. It was voted Double J's Album of the Year and drew heavily from her relationship with Courtney Barnett, who also played lead guitar in her band at the time. That personal, emotionally direct approach runs through most of her catalogue, from the crowdfunded Blood Memory in 2013 to her fifth studio album I Am the River, the River Is Me, released in 2023. The Melbourne based indie rock artist has always moved in interesting company. She co founded Milk! Records with Barnett, toured extensively across the US, Europe and Australia, and has a side project with Mia Dyson and Liz Stringer called Dyson Stringer Cloher, who recorded a self titled album live in Chicago in just eight days. Originally from Adelaide, Cloher brings a raw, unfussy quality to her songwriting that makes her one of the more compelling voices in Australian rock.
