About
Also known as: Gerald Calvin Douglas
Jerry Douglas has played on more than 1,600 albums, which might be the most telling number in bluegrass. The Dobro and lap steel master has picked up fourteen Grammys, and The New York Times called him "Dobro's matchless contemporary master." His sideman list is wild: Garth Brooks, Ray Charles, Eric Clapton, Phish, Paul Simon, Mumford & Sons, Elvis Costello and plenty more. He has been a member of Alison Krauss and Union Station since 1998, and he was part of the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack and its Down From the Mountain tour. He also plays in The Earls of Leicester, leads his own Jerry Douglas Band, and co directs the Transatlantic Sessions with Aly Bain. As a producer, he has worked on records for Alison Krauss and the Del McCoury Band, among others. Most recently, he put out an official video of his take on While My Guitar Gently Weeps. In 2024 he was inducted into the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame.
