About
Jim Keller first hit the charts in the early 80s as the frontman of Tommy Tutone, when 867 5309/Jenny spent twenty seven weeks in the Billboard Top 100 and peaked at number four. He didn't ride that wave for long. Instead he went into music publishing, first working with Philip Glass and later running his own company, whose roster included Tom Waits, Ravi Shankar and Rufus Wainwright. In 2005 he picked up the guitar again and has since made several albums of country noir and Americana that drift between blues, folk and moodier rock. His voice is a gravelly baritone, rough as sandpaper but soulful. By No Means was produced by Mitchell Froom and features David Hidalgo of Los Lobos. The End Of The World, produced by Adam Minkoff, layers Hammond and Farfisa organ, mellotron, pedal steel and harmonium into a dynamic, richly detailed record. Minkoff often plays multi instrumentalist in his live band.
