About
Also known as: James Page, James Patrick Page, Jimi Page, Jimmy Page & Friends
Rolling Stone once called Jimmy Page 'the pontiff of power riffing', and it's hard to argue. The English guitarist built his reputation first as one of London's most in demand session players in the mid 1960s, then as a member of the Yardbirds, before founding Led Zeppelin in 1968. That band ran until 1980 and reshaped what rock guitar could do, with Page at the centre of virtually everything, writing, producing and playing. After Led Zeppelin ended following the death of drummer John Bonham, Page kept busy through a string of collaborations including the Firm, Coverdale Page, and Page and Plant. He reunited with Led Zeppelin for a 2007 concert that became the 2012 film Celebration Day, and appeared alongside the Edge and Jack White in the documentary It Might Get Loud. Rolling Stone has ranked him third on their list of the greatest guitarists of all time, and Gibson placed him at number two on their own top fifty.
