About
Taking his stage name from a Bob Dylan album, Wesley Stace has spent decades carving out a devoted cult following as John Wesley Harding, blending folk sensibilities with power pop hooks. His 1990 Sire Records debut Here Comes the Groom featured members of The Attractions, which had critics reaching for Elvis Costello comparisons that followed him for years. Despite never quite breaking through to a mass audience, he built a reputation as a compelling live performer, something that earned him the rare honour of being chosen by Bruce Springsteen as his opening act for solo shows at the Berkeley Community Theatre in 1995. His song 'I'm Wrong About Everything' appeared on the High Fidelity soundtrack, and his Cabinet of Wonders variety show series, which kicked off in New York City in 2009, has drawn an impressive roster of musicians and writers. He has also released music under his own name Wesley Stace, with Late Style arriving in 2021, and has published four novels alongside his music career.
