At just 13 years old, JoJo became the youngest solo artist ever to hit number one on the US Billboard Mainstream Top 40, with her debut single "Leave (Get Out)" in 2004. That record still stands. Her debut album went platinum, and its follow up, The High Road, gave her the top five Hot 100 smash "Too Little Too Late". By 2007 she had shifted over seven million records worldwide, a remarkable run for someone still in her teens. What makes her story even more compelling is what came after that early success. A prolonged legal dispute with Blackground Records kept her off shelves for years, so she worked around it by releasing independent mixtapes. Once free, she signed to Atlantic and then launched her own label, Clover Music, through a joint venture with Warner Records, where her first move was re recording and re releasing her back catalogue to reclaim ownership. She has since put out four more studio albums, and her acting career has stretched from the film Aquamarine to a starring role in Moulin Rouge! The Musical on Broadway.
