About
Jong Metropole brings together the best young musicians from Dutch conservatories, giving them the chance to work in a fully professional orchestral setting alongside leading conductors, soloists and arrangers. The orchestra was founded in 2015 as a joint initiative of Nationale Jeugdorkesten Nederland and the Metropole Orkest, bridging the worlds of classical music and jazz. The ensemble takes on a wide range of styles, from soulful songs to virtuoso pieces drawn from the broader Metropole repertoire. Conductor and composer Simon Dobson, who has worked with the Metropole Orkest among others, has described rehearsing with the group as a celebration of energy, pointing to the sheer level of musicianship on the bandstand.
