Jordin Sparks won American Idol at seventeen, making her the youngest winner in the show's history, and she wasted no time proving it wasn't a fluke. Her self titled debut album landed in the top ten of the Billboard 200 in its first week and went on to sell over three million copies worldwide, powered by four consecutive top twenty singles. "No Air," her duet with Chris Brown, climbed to number three on the Hot 100 and hit number one in both Australia and New Zealand, while "Tattoo" gave her a solid top ten debut. Critics largely responded well, with Entertainment Weekly handing out a B+ and praising the record as "effervescent fun." Her sound sits comfortably in the space between polished pop and R&B, with production from teams like StarGate, who had already shaped records for Beyoncé and Rihanna.
