Josh Turner's voice is something else entirely: a deep, resonant bass that feels almost out of time in modern country music, and it's what made "Long Black Train" an instant standout when he debuted it at the Grand Ole Opry in 2001 and walked away with a standing ovation mid song. He signed to MCA Nashville in 2003, and that track eventually spent more than forty weeks on the Billboard country charts. By 2007, Turner had earned a spot as a full member of the Grand Ole Opry, inducted by Vince Gill. His biggest commercial moment came with Haywire in 2010, which produced the four week chart topper "Why Don't We Just Dance" and another number one in "All Over Me". Then came Punching Bag in 2012, with "Time Is Love" landing as the biggest country hit of that entire year according to Billboard. Across his catalog there are also genuine gospel leanings, from founding a gospel quartet early in his career to recording "Me and God" as a duet with bluegrass legend Ralph Stanley.
