JP Cooper has a knack for making soul drenched pop feel genuinely warm rather than slick. The Manchester raised singer and songwriter broke through to wide audiences when Jonas Blue's 'Perfect Strangers', on which Cooper featured, hit number 2 on the UK Singles Chart and went platinum, reaching the top ten in eight countries including Germany, Australia and Sweden. His own follow up, 'September Song', proved he wasn't just a featured voice, peaking at number 7 in the UK and cracking the top 10 in Ireland and Sweden too. Before any of that, Cooper had quietly been building a catalogue through a string of EPs released between 2012 and 2015, and he also turned up on tracks by Don Diablo and Craig David along the way. His debut album Raised Under Grey Skies arrived in 2017, and a second album, She, followed in 2022. Rooted in soul, neo soul and r&b with a blue eyed pop sensibility, his sound sits comfortably in a lineage of British soul singers who wear their influences lightly.
