About

Jules Buckley co founded the Heritage Orchestra back in 2004 with the idea of bringing a full orchestra into club settings, which already tells you a lot about where his head is at. He moves fluidly between the classical world and contemporary music, conducting and arranging for artists as varied as Arctic Monkeys, Massive Attack, Tori Amos, Gregory Porter and Jacob Collier. He served as chief conductor of the Metropole Orkest in the Netherlands for a significant stretch, and his work with them on Snarky Puppy's album Sylva earned a Grammy for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album in 2016. His arrangement work is no less impressive: he shaped Caro Emerald's The Shocking Miss Emerald and Jacob Collier's Djesse Vol. 1, and a Collier track featuring Take 6 and the Metropole Orkest picked up a Grammy for Best Arrangement in 2020. He has also held a Creative Artist in Residence role with the BBC Symphony Orchestra, where collaborations have included Moses Sumney and Florence and The Machine.
