Juliane Werding made a massive entrance into German pop with 'Am Tag, als Conny Kramer starb' in 1972, a reworking of The Band's 'The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down' with entirely new German lyrics. It shot straight to number one, launching a chart run that would see her rack up 23 singles and 19 albums on the German charts over more than two decades. She had a knack for finding the right material: her 1983 version of Mike Oldfield's 'Moonlight Shadow', released as 'Nacht voll Schatten', peaked at number 13, and her 1987 album 'Jenseits der Nacht' reached number 8, her best album result. By 2009 she had stepped away from show business entirely, trading the stage for a career as an alternative therapy practitioner near Munich.
