Julie Miller has been quietly one of the most distinctive voices in American roots and contemporary Christian music for decades. Signed to Myrrh Records after singer Sam Phillips passed along her demo tape, her 1990 debut Meet Julie Miller featured an extraordinary cast of backing vocalists including Amy Grant, Shawn Colvin, and Victoria Williams. Her 1993 album Orphans and Angels is a highlight of her catalog, featuring a duet with Emmylou Harris on "All My Tears" and written partly as a tribute to the late Mark Heard. Her song "Broken Things" has become something of a standard, recorded multiple times and sung at a memorial service for victims of the 1998 Omagh bombing in Northern Ireland. Together with her husband Buddy Miller, she has built a long creative partnership that spans each other's solo records and their own duo releases. Their self titled duo album won the Americana Music Association award for best album in 2002.
