Kadhja Bonet makes music that genuinely defies easy categorization, pulling from psychedelic soul, folk, jazz, and classical in ways that feel entirely her own. Critics have described her sound as evoking "Billie Holiday, whisky, and 1940s Disney," which tells you everything about the kind of timeless, otherworldly atmosphere she creates. Her debut release, The Visitor, landed on Fat Possum Records and Fresh Selects in 2016 to serious critical praise and heavy radio play. Her second album, Childqueen, written while touring abroad, charted on Billboard's Independent Albums and Heatseekers Albums, with the single "Delphine" singled out as "spellbinding" and the record itself called proof of her idiosyncratic genius.
