About
Multiple winner of the German Blues Award, Kai Strauss has spent decades building a reputation as one of Germany's most credible electric blues guitarists. Based in Lengerich, Westphalia, he performs and records under the banner Kai Strauss & The Electric Blues All Stars, and since 2014 has released seven albums that draw heavily on the Chicago and Texas blues traditions. Bruce Iglauer, the founder of Alligator Records, summed him up well: "Excellent playing, with a lot of maturity and emotions." Blues Matters! put it even more bluntly, saying it was hard to believe this man was from Germany and not from Chicago or Memphis. His 2022 album In My Prime shows Strauss at his most confident, with most tracks written or co written by himself. The record included a cover of Johnny Copeland's "Down on Bended Knee" and featured a horn section recorded in the United States while the bulk of the sessions took place in Germany. Recent videos include "Bad Loser" and "Stand Strong Together", keeping him firmly active on the electric blues circuit.
